Hominid tools vs. Homo sapien sapien's tools

This is a set of hominid tools. Note how they are like the modern day chimpanzee's tools in this article and crude. It would take a trained eye to distinguish these from rocks in the vicinity.

Chimp tools

This this is what homo sapien sapien tools looked like.

This is their art

Music

And their cloth making tools

What is the point Vera?

1. Early hominids having poor tools makes sense.

2. Even the first Homo sapiens had the very same poor tools at the beginning.

3. So?

The second set of tools comes about when homo sapien sapiens show up. What are we calling homo sapiens? From a biblical perspective, we would not classify these as beings displaying the image of God.

Thanks for posting GE!

Vera,

The second set of tools allows us to classify those hominids as Homo sapiens with much more certainty. But that does not mean that Homo sapiens appeared exactly with the tools, "we" might have appeared earlier, and took a bit of a while to develop the knowledge to build such tools. That does not mean that the other hominids are not related to us. Nor that they do not evidence that there was evolution leading to us. But I think you agree on all this. You just add God as being the one directing the process towards those beings that are his image, right? If so, I do not have anything against it. It is your right to believe so. However, it is impossible to demonstrate, and I think I better tell you that.

Glad to post here.

The demonstration would be in terms of building a model of expectations based on the Bible written, as the atheists so eloquently love to say, by bronze age folk that had no tv, microscope, telescope, electricity, etc etc. They had nothing but their five senses to guide them and yet they write things that are predictable through those that test these things. We call these people - scientists. Our model would then predict per Scripture that when mankind shows up, he would display evidence that is like that of being in the image of God.

What is a homo sapien in your understanding?

Oh, Homo sapiens is us. That simple. But I guess I missed the point. Did I?

OH, sorry, I see:

Our model would then predict per Scripture that when mankind shows up, he would display evidence that is like that of being in the image of God.

And such evidence is? Remember we do not have any images of God. Are you assuming the tools show such image? Well, science predicts that when Homo sapiens had acquired enough brain capacities to be properly distinguished as such, then we should find evidence of such capacities. Like these tools. Again, these prove the intelligence, along with the fossils. If the fossilized bones could not be classified as Homo sapiens, then we wold have another species that also developed the capacities. It is both that make us sure that we found the point where Homo sapiens can be confidently assumed to have arisen. In other words:

Bones alone: perhaps close, but who knows.

Tools alone: maybe, but could be another species.

Both together: we can be quite sure that is "us."

You see? No need to twist image into tools.
